SciPlay • 2021–Present
SciPlay's live-service casino apps feature large libraries of playable games, each represented by promotional icons designed to capture attention and communicate the personality of the game at a glance.
I create these icons by transforming existing game artwork into polished compositions that work across multiple layouts and casino apps. The challenge is to preserve the identity of the original game while creating a focused, visually cohesive image from artwork that may come from different sources, formats, and resolutions.
Design Challenges
Each game begins with its own visual identity, artwork, and source files, but the finished icons need to feel polished and cohesive within a shared casino lobby experience.
The design needs to:
Capture the personality and most recognizable visual elements of each game at a glance
Create a strong focal point and clear visual hierarchy at small display sizes
Adapt successfully across multiple icon layouts and aspect ratios
Maintain consistency across related games while preserving the identity of each individual title
Bring together source artwork of varying styles, formats, and resolutions into a cohesive final composition
Building Cohesive Art from Disparate Sources
Each icon may combine artwork created by different artists, at different times, and for different purposes. My job is to bring those elements together so the final composition feels intentional rather than assembled.
I use lighting, contrast, color, depth, scale, and visual hierarchy to create a clear focal point while preserving the character of the original game art. I also work non-destructively with masks, adjustment layers, and smart objects so source artwork remains intact and files can be easily adapted or handed off to other artists.
